Back by popular demand, the fun folks of Young Leaders Society present The Eve, a festive New Year’s Eve affair to be held Monday, Dec. 31, at the Courtyard by Marriott in Oxford. The party will kick off at 9 p.m. Those who attended last year’s inaugural event say it’s the best way around to ring in the New Year.

Tickets are only $50 each, and admission includes entertainment by the band Daybreakk! (same great band as last year), food catered by Courtyard by Marriott, New Year’s Eve party favors and a champagne toast at midnight. In addition, a “bottomless souvenir glass” will be available for purchase — $5 for beer and $10 for wine — to keep the drinks flowing all night.

Why not stay the night? The Courtyard by Marriott is offering guests of The Eve a discounted New Year’s Eve rate of $79 plus tax. You can make your reservations by calling the hotel at 256-831-7995. Mentioning the group code “YLS” to receive the special rate.

The Eve wouldn’t be possible without 5-Star Sponsors Alabama Power Company, AOD Federal Credit Union, Purohit Pediatric Clinic, Stringfellow Memorial Hospital and Webb Concrete & Building Materials; 4-Star Sponsor ERA King Real Estate; and Presenting Sponsor B.R. Williams Trucking.

The Eve planning committee — Katherine Davidson, Brooke McCulley, Amie Hinton, Alyson Mims, Shannon Jenkins, Chassidy Bowen, Anna-Marie Moorer, Kara Silvers and Alyson Fuqua Tucker — are preparing for a large, enthusiastic crowd this year and say you don’t want to miss this event.

All proceeds from The Eve will benefit United Way’s Imagination Library, which provides an age-appropriate book each month to children from birth to 5 years of age. The free program is open to all children living in Calhoun County. United Way of East Central Alabama is the affiliate for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Calhoun County. The cost for one child to be enrolled in Imagination Library, paid by United Way, is $30 and covers one book a month delivered to the child’s home for one year. There are approximately 2,700 children enrolled, which means that United Way is providing around 32,400 books each year for children in Calhoun County. Wow … how awesome is that?

Tickets for The Eve may be purchased by check or cash at the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, F&M Bank (Anniston, Oxford and Piedmont locations), Quintard Mall Guest Services and United Way of East Central Alabama. Tickets can be purchased by credit card online at www.TheEveCalhoun.com.
