The Boy Scouts of America Venture Crew 4009 recently canoed the upper 8-mile part of Terrapin Creek in Piedmont. There were several swamped canoes as the crew was challenged with class 1 and class 2 rapids. Venture Crews are co-ed youth between the ages of 14-20. Crew 9 is chartered and based at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Golden Springs.

Participants in the event included left to right, advisor Ted Heathcock, Elizabeth New, Gregory Heathcock, Brent Mitchell, Tyler Mitchell, Trey Houston, Dylan Clark, Lee Dillard, Paula Burke and Henry Dorough.
