Leeds 44, Alexandria 17

ALEXANDRIA —
Gabe Marchal was a one-man show on the night Alexandria honored its seniors, doing nearly everything for his team.

Marchal rushed for 170 yards on 24 carries, intercepted a pass, caught a touchdown pass, rushed for a touchdown and kicked a field goal.

The field goal early in the second quarter got the Valley Cubs on the board, with Leeds leading 9-3.

After Leeds extended its lead to 23-3, Luke Tucker hit Marchal for a 14-yard touchdown just before halftime.

Leeds scored three times in the third quarter before Marchal rushed 8 yards for Alexandria’s final touchdown.

Ranburne 35, Ashville 12

ASHVILLE —
Dylan Tullis rushed for 194 yards on 17 carries and a pair of touchdowns as Ranburne completed the regular season at 9-1.

Ranburne already had clinched a share of the Class 2A, Region 6 crown, but the win helped the Bulldogs take the region’s top seed for the state playoffs.

Ranburne led 28-6 at halftime after getting four touchdowns. G.W. Caldwell scored on a 4-yard run, while Tullis added scoring runs of 3 and 34 yards. Brady Whittle caught an 18-yard pass form Dylan Wiggins in the final minute of the half. Kyle Lovvorn rushed for the 2-point conversion.

Whittle added a 2-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Zack Patterson led the Ranburne defense with six tackles.

Gaylesville 24, Ohatchee 20

OHATCHEE —
After Gaylesville scored with 28 seconds remaining in the game to take the lead, Ohatchee nearly completed a comeback, but ran out of time in Gaylesville territory.

Gaylesville had a 10-0 lead at halftime before Ohatchee put together a rally, eventually taking a 20-17 lead on a 15-yard screen pass to Tristan Allen with 2:30 remaining.

In the final minutes of the game Gaylesville traveled most of the length of the field to take the lead and ultimately seal the win.

Woodland 21, Cleburne Co. 14

WOODLAND —
Four quarters almost wasn’t enough to settle the contest, but with 51 seconds remaining the game Woodland quarterback Jon Wes Adcock hit Tyler Rollins for an 18-yard pass to win it.

The play was set up by a 50-yard reverse pass that got Woodland into the red zone.

Adcock finished the game with 150 yards on 9 of 17 passing. Colby Spears rushed for 69 yards and Justice Herring ran for 59.

Cleburne County jumped out to a 7-0 lead after Mathew Morrow sealed a short drive that started with Woodland fumbling the opening kickoff.

Woodland would score on its ensuing drive with Herring scoring from a yard out, and Herring scored again in the middle of the third quarter, another 1-yard run, to give Woodland a 14-7 lead.

The third quarter and most of the fourth remained scoreless, but Cleburne County quarterback Brady Padgett tied the game with a 41-yard rushing touchdown with 4:25 left in the game.

The two teams went back and forth, each recording a turnover before Woodland would go on the game-winning drive.

Gaston 50, Pleasant Valley 39

PLEASANT VALLEY —
Pleasant Valley fell to Gaston on Friday despite four touchdown passes by senior quarterback Lucas Ford.

The Raiders and Bulldogs scored fast and often. Both teams matched each other’s scoring until early in the fourth quarter. After a 66-yard touchdown pass from Ford to Justin Andrews, the Raiders failed a 2-point conversion attempt. Gaston led 35-33.

The Bulldogs drove down the field and stretched their lead to 43-33 on a 23-yard pass. Gaston added one more touchdown on a 2-yard run. Ford hit Dalton Bean for a 7-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 50-39.

The Raiders managed to recover the ensuing onside kick. Their rally was derailed when Gaston managed an interception with 1:34 remaining in the game. Gaston was able to run out the clock on that possession.

Lucas Ford completed 10 of 16 passes for 194 yards and four touchdowns. His five scores came on two passes to Justin Andrews for gains of 53 and 66 and two passes to Dalton Bean for gains of 14 and 7 yards.

Drew Lewiski finished with 100 yards on 20 carries and 1-yard a touchdown. Dalton Bean added a rushing touchdown of 3 yards.

Munford 33, Talladega 14

MUNFORD —
The Munford Lions used a huge second quarter to defeat Talladega.

The Lions finish the regular season with a 9-1 record for the first time since 1992.

After Munford holding Talladega to a three-and-out, Tavon Lawson received Jack Bailey’s kick at the Munford 30-yard line. The senior broke several tackles , then cut back to the right sideline where a line of blockers led him down the field for a 70 yard touchdown to give the Lions a 6-0 lead.

After Talladega grabbed a 7-6 advantage, the Lions scored 20 points in the final four minutes of the first half.

On the first play of the ensuing drive, Monteo Garrett found a wide open Jay Scales for a 68 yard touchdown.

After forcing a three-and-out, Munford took over at their 21 yard line. Garrett found Lawson for what intentionally looked like a short gain. Lawson was able to break a few tackles the left side line, then we took off for a 77 touchdown catch and run.

After a Talladega turnover, Garrett called his own number and sprinted past Talladega defenders for a 71 yard touchdown.
