Prep basketball roundup: White Plains boys, Woodland girls roll

White Plains High’s boys dominated the fourth quarter in a 75-60 win at Jefferson Christian on Monday night.

White Plains led 32-31 at halftime but took control by outscoring Jefferson Christian 20-10 in the final period.

Dylan Randall had 10 of his team-high 20 points in the fourth quarter. Tyler Hardcastle had 17 points, and Chandler Cox added 15. Hunter Wheeler scored 10.

For Jefferson Christian, Rashod King scored 21 points, and Tim Taggart added 13.

White Plains (5-3) will host Piedmont on Friday night.

Saks 62, Clay Central 44: Saks won on the road in its season opener, as Daniel Heard had 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Roc Green added 12 points, and Makel Taylor pitched in 11.

Saks will play Munford at home tonight.

J.J. Staples had 12 points for Clay Central.

Faith 59, Wellborn 50: Josiah McDaniel led four Faith players in double figures with 16 points. London Huie added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Griswould scored 13 points, and Logan Williamson hit three 3-pointers en route to 11 points as Faith improved to 3-6.

Devron Taylor led Wellborn with 22 points, and Kevin Mixon added nine.



Girls

Ranburne 36, Horseshoe Bend 24:
Jessie Ralston and Alyssa Smith each had 12 points for Ranburne, which will host Wellborn on Tuesday.

Cleburne County 41, Weaver 11: Eryka Ware had nine points, four rebounds and three steals to pace Cleburne County.

Kiara Akles contributed eight points, four rebounds and a pair of steals. A trio of players scored seven points each – Alisa Norton, Shawntavia Boyd and Kaity Zeiders. Boyd added six rebounds, and Norton passed out four assists.

Zeiders made all seven foul shots she attempted.

White Plains 45, Jefferson Christian 15: Sophie Taylor and Shelby Wood each had 13 points for the Wildcats, who improved to 7-1.

Taylor Snellgrove added nine points, and Amber Greenwood pitched in eight.

White Plains will host Piedmont on Friday.

Woodland 79, Piedmont 21: Woodland shot out to a 56-11 halftime lead on its way to picking up its second win in two games.

Adre Bowen led the winners with 20 points, followed by Leah Strain (16), Jade Walker (14), Shanna Strain (13) and Shalyn Strain (8).

For Piedmont, Patiana Green had seven points.

Woodland will host Pleasant Valley tonight.

Faith 56, Wellborn 42: At Faith, Madison Stephens scored 30 and had nine steals to lead the Lions. Jaz Groce added 11 points and nine rebounds, and Madelyn Adams scored 10 points as Faith improved to 4-5.

Wellborn got 23 points from Dymond Myles.

Saks 55, Clay Central 21: Miracle Dennard scored 15 points and had four assists to lead Saks (1-2). Parris Glover added 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Niaya Northard had 14 rebounds.
