Prep Volleyball Roundup: Saks sweeps four matches, wins tourney

Saks High won its own tournament Saturday by sweeping four matches.

The Wildcats beat Sacred Heart 25-21, 25-15, Ranburne 25-14, 25-14, Ohatchee 27-25, 25-23 and Wellborn 25-19, 25-17.

Jordan Briskey led the winners with 29 kills and 19 digs. Jaelyn Wilson added 52 assists, while Tiffany Springer had five aces and 39 digs. Taylor Teague contributed 26 digs, 12 kills and eight aces.

Saks will play again Tuesday at home against Oxford and Jacksonville at 5 p.m.

Faith Christian placed third after winning three of four matches.

Faith beat Ohatchee 28-26, 25-18, Ranburne 25-15, 18-25, 15-11 and Weaver 25-11, 25-16 and lost to Etowah 25-15, 25-19.

Kirstyn Cotton led Faith with 16 kills and nine aces. Madison Stephens contributed 17 aces and eight kills, while Peyton Camp had six aces and 35 assists.

Faith Christian will play again at home Tuesday against Westbrook Christian and Wellborn.

Sandy Hunter Invitational — Donoho placed second, winning four matches before falling in the finals.

Donoho beat Piedmont 25-16, 25-20, Holy Spirit 25-12, 25-14, Cherokee County 25-21, 25-22 and Pleasant Valley 25-9, 25-16. The Lady Falcons fell in the finals to Geraldine 25-20, 25-22, 15-9.

Corey Phillis had 53 kills and six aces for Donoho, while Riley Segrest contributed 87 assists and nine aces. Jordan Ray pitched in five aces and eight kills.

Donoho will play Tuesday at Piedmont against Piedmont and Alexandria.
