Anniston police today were investigating a fire that started in a garage on the 300 block of Brookwood Drive.

According to Anniston fire Capt. Joel Roberts, a driver reported seeing a trash can on fire in the garage of the home around noon.

Roberts said firefighters went through the front door of the home to put the fire out. Roberts said he did not know whether any vehicles or the garage were damaged.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said that no one was in the home at the time of the fire. The homeowner could not be reached Wednesday, the captain said.

There were no suspects Thursday morning, George said. Any suspects could face felony charges of second-degree arson.
