Anniston police today were investigating three fake checks cashed at a local credit union in April.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said three checks totaling $632 were cashed at the AOD Federal Credit Union on the 200 block of Greenbrier Dear Road. The checks were cashed between April 10 and April 13, according to a police report.

George said the credit union believes the checks were stolen.

The captain was uncertain why the fake checks weren’t reported to police until Thursday.

George said the credit union’s video surveillance was under review and police had a suspect this morning.

Any suspect could be charged with felony second-degree possession of a forged instrument.
