According to Anniston police Capt. Allen George, Scott Willingham, 26, was a temporary worker with the Flint Group at 104 National Drive. A coworker found Willingham inside a restricted area after hours on May 8, the captain said.
“He saw Willingham squeezing through a side gate,” George said.
George said Willingham’s fingerprints were found in the area Willingham was not supposed to be in, which led to his arrest. Steel ball valves and miscellaneous lengths of copper and plastic fittings were among the items stolen. According to George none of the items were recovered. George said that Willingham had taken the steel and copper to the Calhoun Recycling office. George said Willingham also disposed of the plastic but he did not know how.
George said he did not know how long Willingham had been employed with the company.
Willingham has been charged with second-degree theft, a felony. Willingham paid his $5,000 bond and was released Friday evening.
