Anniston police arrested a man Tuesday night after his girlfriend reported that he choked and punched her, Anniston police Capt. Allen George said Wednesday.

Petties Moore Jr., 37, of Anniston, faces a felony domestic violence charge, according to a warrant for his arrest.

The captain said that around 8:45 p.m., Moore and his girlfriend, 64, began arguing over money in her home on the 100 block of Elm Street.

The captain said that during the argument, Moore knocked the victim to the ground, choked her, and punched her in the face.

George said that when police arrived, they found the victim had a large cut on her forehead and her face was swelling.

George said the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, but the report did not say which hospital or how she was taken.

George said he did not know the victim’s condition.

George said Moore ran from the residence after he punched the victim, but officers found him near the home and arrested him.

Moore was in the Calhoun County Jail on Friday with a bond set at $30,000. He is set to appear in court Dec. 12, according to court records.
