A motorcyclist died Saturday evening as he made his way west along I-20.

Samuel Phillips, 57, died in a single-vehicle accident around mile marker 206, about a mile away from the Ranburne/Heflin exit at Alabama 46, according to Cleburne County Coroner Ben McKnight. McKnight said Phillips was from the Birmingham area.

According to Alabama State Troopers, the accident occurred at 7:15 p.m.

The accident is still under investigation by troopers office, said Trooper Charles Dysart, and no further information was available Sunday.
