Anniston police say a man arrested on domestic violence charges Saturday beat and choked his ex-girlfriend last week.

Jamie Lee Boston, 32, of Anniston, was charged with domestic violence by strangulation, a felony, according to a police report.

A 28-year-old woman told police she went to Boston’s home on the 1600 block of Christine Avenue last Wednesday.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George told The Star last week that the victim went to the home to retrieve some of her property. While she was there, Boston reportedly yelled at her, punched her, bit her, grabbed her by the hair and dragged her into the home, George said.

The victim told police Boston continued to hit and choke her until she almost lost consciousness. Boston fled the home before police arrived.

The woman suffered scratches and bruises on her shoulders, arms, face and neck. She also suffered cuts on her lips, a mark on her throat and a welt on her forehead.

Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said the woman had recovered enough from her injuries to sign a warrant Thursday for Boston’s arrest.

Police arrested Boston Saturday morning, according to a police report.

Boston was released on a $7,500 bond from the Anniston City Jail on Saturday, Sparks said. A court appearance is scheduled for July 1.
