Police charged a man Saturday with assaulting his neighbor with a beer bottle earlier this month.

Terrance Lamar Williams Jr., 21, of Anniston, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, according to a police report.

Williams allegedly assaulted a 38-year-old man on April 5 after an argument, according to Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks. The assault occurred around 9 p.m. at a residence on the 500 block of South Leighton Avenue, the sergeant said.

Shortly after the dispute, Sparks said, Williams reportedly threw a beer bottle at the victim and struck him in the chin. The victim suffered a cut, but police were uncertain whether the man went to the hospital.

Through an investigation, Williams was identified as the neighbor and a warrant was filed April 24.

Williams was released on a $2,500 bond from the Anniston City Jail on Sunday afternoon, Sparks said. A court appearance is scheduled for May 20.
