The good folks who administrate the OxfordBlack GoldBaseball page on Facebook sure have been busy lately, keeping up with minor leaguers.

There’s Jackson Stephens in the Cincinnati Reds’ organization, Zach Lovvorn in the Kansas City Royals organization and Saxon Butler in the New York Yankees’ system.

Folks in Cherokee County have begun watching Coty Blanchard’s career in the Tampa Bay Rays’ farm system, with dad Fran Blanchard keeping up the Facebook updates.

Ranburne folks have long had their eye on Chase Whitley’s climb to the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the Yankees’ system.

The local-favorite Atlanta Braves have Jacksonville product Todd Cunningham, batting .294 with Triple-A Gwinett as of this writing, and Jacksonville’s Shed Long was drafted by the Reds earlier this month.

Cunningham and Blanchard also played for Jacksonville State, and former JSU pitcher Donovan Hand just made his first major league start with Milwaukee on Saturday.

You could fill out a lineup card with the local influence in professional baseball, showing that you doesn’t need a home team to follow the game when folks you know bring it home.
