Jacksonville State basketball coach James Green has been suspended one game by the Ohio Valley Conference for making contact with game official Jon Campbell during the Gamecocks’ 78-64 loss at Tennessee Tech Saturday night.

Green will serve the suspension Thursday when the Gamecocks (15-8, 7-5 OVC) play at Morehead State.

The conference office announced the suspension Sunday and said there were no other conditions beyond the one-game suspension.

"I respect the decision of our commissioner and will adhere to all stipulations," Green told The Star.

The contact occurred with 6:06 remaining in what was a 10-point game when Green sought an explanation for what was ruled an excessive foul against senior forward Rinaldo Mafra. Green approached the officials to ask what they meant by excessive when he was hit with two technical fouls.

The exchange resulted in eight free throws, of which the Golden Eagles made seven to basically put the game away.
