The Jacksonville High School cross country teams competed in the state meet Saturday in Moulton.

In the boys' 5k race, Jacksonville placed 6th with 145 points. In the girls 5K race, Jacksonville tied for 7th with 197 points based on each team's top 5 runners but officially placed 8th because the other 7th place team had a faster 6th runner.

In cross country, each team's top 7 runners are assigned points based on their order of finish. Members of incomplete teams (with 4 or fewer runners) and runners who are not among their team's top 7 finishers are assigned overall finish places but are not assigned points. The points of each team's top 5 runners are totalled to determine team placing. In the event of a tie, each team's 6th runner serves as the tie-breaker. In ties among teams with only 5 finishers, the points of those teams' top 4 runners are totaled to break the tie.

Jacksonville boys were Benjamin Pryor (19:37.59, 32nd, 23 pts.), Deonte Elston (19:48.80, 33rd, 24 pts.), Troy Garrick (20:13.73, 45th, 30 pts.), Taylor Bellin (20:24.23, 48th, 32 pts), Andrew Sandberg (20:34.36, 52nd, 36 pts.), Jordan Shelvin (21:00.22, 60th, 41 pts.), Clark Sides (21:25.01, 66th, 45 pts.), Jervan Cowden (21:39.11, 71st), Alex Rowan (22:21.46, 79th) and Micah Shelvin (22:22.59, 80th).

Jacksonville girls were Sharon Osterbind (25:11.38, 53rd, 34 pts.), Angel Kidd (25:56.05, 66th, 39 pts.), Madison Murray (25:58.88, 68th, 40 pts.), Ariana Johnson (26:01.88, 69th, 41 pts.), Morgan Young (27:08.01, 74th, 43 pts.) and Stephanie Spoon (34:52.90, 96th, 59 pts.).
