I was in Dallas 50 years ago when President Kennedy was shot and killed.

I was a 21-year-old young man standing on Elm Street, three blocks from where the shooting took place, when the news reached us that the president had been shot. It looked like everything and everybody went into slow motion.

After what seemed like an eternity, but was only about an hour, the news came that the president was dead. At that moment, it looked like everything and everybody just stopped. The cars stopped running, people stopped walking, clocks stopped ticking and even the traffic lights stopped working. That was a part of history that I will never forget. His loss will never be forgotten.
