Boston's Fenway Park has a long tradition
of playing Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" in the middle of the eighth inning, despite the fact that, as a 2005 Boston Globe article
pointed out, "The lyrics have nothing to do with baseball. The composer has no connection to the Red Sox. The song hit the charts more than 30 years ago." Chalk it up to one of those beloved quirks of baseball. Tuesday night
Major League Baseball stadiums across country paid tribute to Boston and its suffering because of Monday's Boston Marathon bombings by playing "Sweet Caroline."
