Anniston police today were investigating a theft of $20,000 from a local gas station.

According to a police report, between July 1 and Oct. 31, the money was stolen from the Samco gas station and convenience store on the 100 block of Old Gadsden Highway.

Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said Friday that store employees discovered the money was missing during an audit.

Sparks declined to release further information about the case, citing the ongoing investigation.

Any suspect could face a felony charge of first-degree theft, according to a police report.
