The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for south-central Calhoun County this afternoon as a slow-moving thunderstorm dumps rain on the area.

Runoff from the storm will cause flash flooding in areas such as Anniston, Oxford, Saks, Blue Mountain and Hobson City, the Weather Service's warning said. Streams including Cane Creek, South Branch Cane Creek, Choccolocco Creek and Hillabee Creek are included in the warning statement. The warning is in effect until 6 p.m.

Nearly a half-inch of rain fell at the Anniston Regional Airport between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., according to NWS data.
