An Eastaboga man was in jail today on charges that he intimidated someone who was to testify against him in a burglary case.

Charles Rush Brown, 44, was arrested Sept. 23 by Oxford police on a failure-to-appear charge stemming from a 2012 burglary case against him, said Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson.

Brown was charged Monday with intimidating a witness. Amerson said that usually means a person contacted the victim of a burglary and threatened them against pressing charges.

Court records show a grand jury charged Brown in January with breaking into a home on Oct. 28, 2012, on the 1200 block of County Line Road in Eastaboga with the intent to rob. Those records state Brown was armed with a knife, which he allegedly threatened to use against someone in the home.

A grand jury in February charged Brown with threatening someone he believed would be called as a witness in a court case against him, those records show.

Brown was in Calhoun County Jail on Tuesday. No court date for Brown had been set by this afternoon.
