Area roundup: Ranburne, Clay Central, Wadley win

Ranburne 47, Victory Christian 6

Unbeaten Ranburne got touchdowns from six different players in a Class 2A, Region 6 win at Victory Christian.

Ranburne (7-0) got one rushing touchdown apiece from Dylan Tullis, Brady Whittle, Tristan Hartley and Logan Otwell.

Tullis and Whittle each carried three times for 70 yards.

Dylan Wiggins threw three passes, completing two for 37 yards and two touchdowns. Kyle Lovvorn and Braden Wilson each caught a scoring pass.

Trent Williams made five tackles for Ranburne, which faces Wellborn at home next week. Jordan Beal and Jacob Ertzberger each had four stops.

Clay Central 35, Handley 7

Jaylon Lyles rushed for two touchdowns and threw a scoring pass as Clay Central remained undefeated.

He finished with 156 rushing yards on 19 carries.

Ranked No. 4 in Class 4A, Clay Central fell behind 7-0 in the first quarter before Lyles threw a 30-yard scoring pass to Detrick Rutledge before the end of the period. In the second period, Lyles broke free for a 42-yard touchdown run, giving Clay the lead for good.

Anthony Wood threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to DeAndrew Wills and a 19-yarder to Rutledge. Lyles added a 7-yard scoring run.

Rutledge rushed four times for 26 yards and caught three passes for 68.

Wadley 29, Winterboro 15

Kamaury Avery rushed for 107 yards on 15 carries and scored two touchdowns for Wadley.

Tyrese Sheppard added eight carries for 56 yards, and Devin Freeman had nine carries for 52 yards.

Avery’s touchdown eruns covered 4 and 45 yards. Dakota Brown added a 28-yard scoring run, and Freeman scored from 2 yards away.

Wadley also recorded a safety for the first two points of the game.

Valley Head 42, Jacksonville Christian 12

Jacksonville Christian moved the ball Friday night but had trouble finding the end zone.

Valley Head jumped out to a 28-0 lead before JCA quarterback Daylon Brackett rushed for a 26-yard touchdown to put the Thunder on the scoreboard.

JCA’s final touchdown came when Bracket hit Chris Armprester for a 68-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Brackett threw for 235 yards on 16-of-28 passing. He also rushed for 74 yards on 13 carries.

Armprester had seven receptions for 183 yards. Tyler Morales had four catches for 36 yards.
