According to Lt. Jon Garlick with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Billy Gene Storey, 48, of Anniston, and his 12-year-old stepson got into an argument over washing dishes in their home on Newborn Street on Aug. 22. During the argument, Storey put both his hands around the victim’s neck, choked him and dragged him down the hallway, a police report said.
According to the lieutenant, the victim called his father on the phone immediately after the incident and the victim’s father came to get him. The victim’s 13-year-old sister also witnessed the attack, the lieutenant said.
A police report said the boy’s father filed a report with the Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 4 and a warrant was put out for Storey’s arrest. The report did not mention why the boy’s father waited two weeks to report the attack, Garlick said.
Storey turned himself into the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Monday. He was charged with felony domestic violence, strangulation, and was released on a $10,000 bond Monday. His court date is scheduled for Oct. 3, according to a police report.
