TUSCALOOSA – The offseason commitments for Alabama continues to roll in this morning, as the Crimson Tide landed the No. 1-rated quarterback for the class of 2015.

Ricky Town, a 6-foot-4, 198-pound junior of St. Bonaventure High in Ventura, Calif., is the No. 1 quarterback prospect and the No. 3 overall prospect for the class of 2015, according to 247Sports.

Rick Town, the quarterback’s father, confirmed the commitment this morning.

“The thing is that you’re at the pinnacle,” the athlete’s father told 247Sports. “He’s got all the offers he’s seeking. But it wasn’t as good of a fit as Alabama. He’s seen all the top schools. He feels like he really fits into the system really well and he really liked the environment and he feels like he can go in and play.”

Crimson Tide offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier handled the bulk of Town’s recruiting.

“It’s an honor to think of Ricky being a part of a program like that as a dad and as a family, you think about it happening but when it happens it’s amazing,” Town's father told 247Sports.

Town has already visited Alabama, along with Texas, Georgia, Southern California and Stanford. He had scheduled more visits for the fall, but this decision ends the process early.

“There’s a lot of programs that really caused him to pause but this is something that we’ve been talking about and really serious about over the last three or four days,” Town’s father told 247Sports. “He woke up this morning and said ‘let’s go’.

“He’s excited to play in the SEC, excited to play for Coach (Nick) Saban and Coach Nussmeier. He really liked Nussmeier a lot. He said ‘Dad, they got 90,000 at their spring game.’ You can’t beat that.”

Town becomes the fifth commitment for the Tide’s 2015 class and the third five-star prospect, according to 247Composite ranking.

Among others, Town choose the Tide over Georgia, Texas, Miami, Stanford and UCLA.
