TALLADEGA -- Qualifying for the Aaron's 499 Sprint Cup race has been canceled today, according to NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp.

The lineup for Sunday's race at Talladega Superspeedway will be set according to Friday's practice times. That's in accordance with NASCAR rules.

Carl Edwards had the fastest practice time at 199.675, followed by Martin Truex Jr. in second place at 199.650 and Marcos Ambrose in third at 199.608.

"The cars seem to do a really good job of pulling up and actually passing other cars here," Edwards said. "Our car was very fast. I don't know if it's just that our car is real fast or if everyone else is like that, but it looks like it's going to be a pretty crazy race."

The Aaron's 312, a Nationwide Series race, is slated to be run this afternoon, although the start will be delayed.
