HAMMONDS

WELLINGTON — Funeral service for Mrs. Edna Inez Hammonds, 90, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Deryl Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family invites all friends for visitation this evening from 6 - 8 at the funeral home. Mrs. Hammonds passed away Monday, May 12, 2008, at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include her loving husband of 71 years, Louis Hammonds, of Wellington; son, Cloyce Hammonds and wife, Faye, of Wellington; two grandchildren, Bryan Hammonds and Mary, and Benita Hammonds. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Hester Cheatwood.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Mrs. Hammonds was a lifelong native of Calhoun County and resident of Wellington. She was a homemaker and farmer's wife and a member of Post Oak Springs Baptist Church. Chapel Hill Funeral Home will be servicing the Hammonds family (256) 820-5151

WELLINGTON — Services for Mickey Daniel Hollis, 23, will be 2 p.m. today, at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

HULSEY

FORT MEADE, Fla. — Mr. William Steve Hulsey, 59, passed away Friday, May 9, 2008, at his residence after a long battle with cancer. Steve was born in Jacksonville, Ala. and came to Fort Meade, Fla. in 1972. He was a maintenance mechanic for Mosaic Phosphate Mining, and of the Pentecostal faith. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran; member of American Legion Post #3, Bartow, Fla.; member of Sons of the American Legion; member of the Moose Lodge, Bartow, Fla.; and a former Little League Baseball and Football coach in Fort Meade. He was preceded in death by brothers, Homer Hulsey and Wayne McCurry. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Hulsey, Fort Meade; sons, Dwayne Hulsey and wife, Susie, Zolfo Springs, Fla., and Josh Kintner, Fort Meade, Fla.; daughters, Amy McQuaig, Fort Meade, Fla., Leigh Hulsey and Rosie, Zolfo Springs, Fla., Amanda Gibson, Wauchula, Fla.; brothers, Thomas Hulsey and Benny Hulsey, both of Jacksonville; sister, Frances Campbell, of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Taylor Hulsey, Michael Forrester, Justin Forrester, Brian McQuaig, Kaylee Gibson, and Ciara Kintner. Memorial services will held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Hancock Funeral Home, Fort Meade, Fla.

LANEY

ANNISTON — Funeral services for James "Jim" A. Laney, 74, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Joe Harris and the Rev. Eric Arrington officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Mr. Laney died Saturday at his residence.

Survivors include his sons, David Laney and his wife, Robin, Greg Laney and his wife, Nancy, Robert Laney and his wife, Bridgette, Michael Laney and his wife, Krista, all of Omaha Neb.; step son, Glenn Gron, of Akron, Ohio; daughters, Kathy Gains and her husband, Donny, of Heflin, Ala., Lori Ledbetter, of Omaha, Neb., Patti Dennell and her husband, Frank of Omaha, Neb.; step daughters, Karen Estes, of St. Louis Mo., Gayle Gron, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lisa Boltz, of Clyde, Ohio and Pamela Gron, of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Rose Marie Harris and her husband, Joe, Patsy Simmons and her husband, Doug, and JoAnn Duncan; 30 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Laney was a resident of Anniston, Ala. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was also employed by Pinson's Florist and a devoted Auburn Football Fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton B. and Mary Mildred Warren Laney; wife, Mary Lee Laney and daughter, Cindy Thompson. WELLINGTON — Funeral service for Woodson E. Lloyd, 73, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Angel Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Stan Broome and Gene Burgess officiating. K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center directing. The family will receive friends at Angel Grove Baptist Church from 6-8 p.m. this evening. Mr. Lloyd died Monday at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Lloyd; his daughter, Pam Brown and her husband, Billy; son, Terry Lloyd and his wife, Brenda; sister, Margret Roach; five grandchildren, Shane Brown and his wife, Toni, Brandon Brown and his wife, Amber, Ashley Neal and her husband, Lee, Amanda Lloyd and Slayton Lloyd; two step grandchildren, Daphne Hurst and her husband, Shane, and Tracy Myers; five great-grandchildren, Drew Brown, Colton Brown, Emilee Brown, Tyler Brown and Ella Brown; three step great-grandchildren, Bailey Hurst, Andi Hurst and Chesnee Hurst; two nieces, Vicki Burgess and Tamra Burgess; one nephew, Wendell Burgess. Mr. Lloyd was retired from Goodyear with 43 years service.

OXFORD — Funeral service for Judy Carol Stephens, 56, who passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. the Rev. Joey Boyd and The Rev. Tommy Graham will officiate and burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens. Her family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory. Mrs. Stephens was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She graduated from Anniston High School in 1970 and worked at M&H Valve over 35 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Finley and Lou Emma Roland; and sister, Betty Jean Young. She is survived by her children, Sonya Ghee, and Danielle Ghee, both of Oxford; brother, J.W. Roland, Oxford; sisters, Janice Dunn, Oxford, and JoAnn Hammonds, Missouri, grandchildren, Zoe' Henderson, Carson Daniel and Skye Jordan.

TIDWELL

ANNISTON — Graveside services for Mr. Richard Tidwell, 41, was held Monday at Union Grove Cemetery in Golden Springs with the Rev. Gerald Clark officiating. Mr. Tidwell passed away Thursday in Birmingham.

Survivors include his wife, Lola Tidwell, of Anniston; daughter, Anna Tidwell, of Anniston; sons, Jason Tidwell and Joseph Tidwell and his wife, Tiffany, both of Anniston; grandchildren, Ethan Tidwell, Dawson Tidwell, and Allison Tidwell; grandmother, Mary Duke, of Anniston; parents, Aubrey and Ruby Tidwell, of Anniston; sister, Anita Haynes and husband, Dwayne, of Jacksonville; nephews, Joshua and Jacob Haynes. The family will receive friends at K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Jacksonville, this evening from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Upton died Saturday in Etowah County. He is survived by his sister, Rita Rollins, of Jacksonville, Ala.; three brothers, Glen Upton, of Jacksonville, Ala., Gerald Upton, of Wellington, Ala., and Ricky Upton, of Suwanee, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great nephews. Mr. Upton was devoted to his family and he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Upton, and his parents, Joe and Willene Upton.
