Kiwanis Club hoping for growth

Wayne Sisk, the new lieutenant governor for the Alabama district of Kiwanis International, spoke to the Jacksonville Kiwanians at their Oct. 15 meeting about growing the club.

Sisk took the members through a 12-step program of ways to attract members to the club and get them involved once they join.

“You have to believe in what Kiwanis is all about,” said Sisk, encouraging the members to get involved not only in local projects, but also Kiwanis International conferences. “Get involved in those things and learn a tremendous amount about the organization and your club.”

Different ideas for making meetings fun to attend, walking visitors through each meeting’s agenda and asking new members to help with work on various club projects were ideas Sisk recommended for the club to gain more members.

Kiwanis International is currently working on a goal to have one million members by 2015. The Jacksonville club hopes to help through their goal of doubling in size over the next year.
