Gifts given to local mom during annual Walk for Life

The fourth annual Walk for Life, sponsored by St. Charles Catholic Church through their One Choice for Life ministry, was held October 25.

The group walked from St. Charles to the Jacksonville square, where they held a rally, then down Pelham Road, around University Circle before ending back at the church, which is located on 7th Street.

The highlight of the day for many of those present was the baby shower, a tradition begun at last year’s event.

This year, instead of sending the donated gifts to local anti-abortion counseling groups, the presents were donated to a local mom who came to the attention of One Choice for Life after she decided against having an abortion.

“This really was the cherry on top of the cake of what we really do. Our walk is just to walk in the streets of Jacksonville to let people know that we need to save life from conception to natural death,” said Chris Fussner, who works with One Choice for Life.

Walk for Life is held in October each year as a celebration for Pro-life Month.

One Choice for Life can be contacted through St. Charles Catholic Church or by calling 453-5504.
