An L-shaped development, known as Long Landing, is planned for the newly cleared land behind O’Reilly Auto Parts, Captain D’s and CVS.Of the six lots in the planned development, only two are already spoken for. A Hampton Inn will sit in the corner of the L and the adjoining lot to the east will be held for the hotel for future use.
The Hampton Inn will have 79 rooms and a meeting space suitable to hold 300-350 people. An outdoor courtyard, and a solarium are also included in the plans.
According to Sandy Howell, coordinator for Long and Associates, the Guntersville development team working on the project, the developers hope to sell one of the two lots fronting on Pelham Road to a large chain restaurant.
Two other lots are open along a road planned to run through the development and are near its exit onto Greenleaf Street – a 6.75 acre lot beside the hotel and a 2.08 lot adjoining Greenleaf.
Long and Associates will present their development plans to the Jacksonville Planning Commission on March 18 at the regularly scheduled planning commission meeting.
