Picketing at the Post Office

Members of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) showed up in Jacksonville Friday to pro-test what they referred to as “abusive actions” by Jacksonville Postmaster LouAnn Simmons. Workers from across the union’s southern region walked the picket line, to grab the attention of upper level management in the postal service and force action to be taken against Simmons, whom many claimed verbally and emotionally abused her employees throughout her tenure in postal management, including stints in Gadsden, Albertville, Cross-ville and Jacksonville. Left, Harold Terry, APWU state president, gives a flyer to a postal customer and takes time to define the complaints they have against Simmons Some citizens visiting the local office recalled their own story of verbal abuse by Simmons.
