Gardening programs

“Lunch and Learn,” a series of free gardening programs sponsored by Calhoun County Master Gardeners will be presented from noon-1 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday at Cane Creek Community Garden, McClellan. Everyone is asked to bring a lunch. Door prizes will be given each session. The program today will center on recreational ponds and water quality. Call the County Extension office at 237-1621 for more information.

Senior Center games

The Senior Center, next to the Community Center at 501 C, Alexandria Road, S. W., will host a game day beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, which will include Dominoes, Checkers, Rook, other card games and puzzles. Everyone is asked to bring a sandwich or a bag lunch. Beverages will be supplied. Call 435-9199 for more information.

Hatcher Fun Day

Fun Day, complete with hot dogs and games, will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Hatcher Avenue Baptist Church, 1311 Hatcher Ave. S. E.

‘The Sound of Music’

CAST (Community Actors’ Studio Theatre) will present “The Sound of Music” Sept. 4-7, 11-14, and 18-21 at the McClellan Theatre, 100 Gamecock Drive, Anniston. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m. with the curtain rising at 2:30 p.m. for Sunday matinees. Season tickets are $50 for adults and $30 for students with individual prices per show set at $20 per adult and $10 for students for musicals. Group rates are available for parties of 12 or more individuals. All Thursday night shows are produced for “Pay-What-You -Want” admission.

What do Catholics believe?

St. Charles Catholic Church announces the beginning of adult Catholic instruction classes for those interested in learning about the Catholic Church or becoming a member. Classes meet each Tuesday during the school year beginning on Sept. 9. RCIA is open to everyone. Classes meet in the Parish Life Center at 308 Seventh St., N.E. Children’s Market

First United Methodist Church will host the Children’s Market Consignment Sale Sept. 11-13, featuring items for children, teens, and expecting moms. White elephant sale

The Calhoun County Master Gardener Program is sponsoring a white elephant sale from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 13, at Cane Creek Community Garden, McClellan. A variety of household and other assorted items, including plants, will be for sale. No clothing will be available. Call the Calhoun County Extension Office at 237-1621 for more information.
