JCOC seeks help in giving aid to students this yearThe Jacksonville Community Outreach Center has a large number of applications asking for help for students this year. The JCOC is asking everyone to either purchase school supplies and leave them at a church or drop them off at the JCOC, behind McDonald’s.
Checks can be made payable to JCOC and marked “school supplies.”
The handing out of school supplies has already begun by JCOC and will continue until all of the children are assisted.
The JCOC will also provide $25 vouchers for kindergarten through seventh grade children for shoes, socks and underwear.
The vouchers will have to be redeemed at the service department of the Jacksonville Wal-Mart.
Families must reside within the Jacksonville 36265 area.
Each family requesting assistance must have proof of Jacksonville residency (a current piece of mail received at their home address). P. O. boxes will not be accepted.
They also must have photo ID and social security cards for each family member living in the household. Call JCOC at 435-1891 for more information.
Due to limited space inside JCOC and the large number of clients the center will be trying to assist, do not bring children when coming in for school supplies.
