Physical therapist and member of The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Jerry L Klug has received the APTA’s 2008 Lucy Blair Service Award. Klug was honored during an awards ceremony at Physical Therapy 2008: Annual Conference & Exposition of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in June in San Antonio.Klug is president and owner of Alabama Physical Rehabilitation Service in Jacksonville. He has held many leadership positions in APTA’s Alabama Chapter including president and chairman of the Government Affairs Committee. Klug has served as Alabama’s chief delegate to APTA’s annual conferences and is a former member of the board of directors of APTA’s Private Practice Section. He currently chairs the International Private Practitioners Association (IPPA) a sub-group of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy.
APTA’s Lucy Blair Service Award honors members who have made exceptional contributions to the association through district, chapter, committee, section, task force, or national activities. Lucy Blair, who died in 1985, was known for qualities such as having unswerving dedication, self-sacrifice without limit, an infectious enthusiasm, strong personal and professional values, a sharp wit and sense of humor, and a genuine interest and concern for every individual she met.
