The Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center began giving away school supplies to those families throughout the community who need help on Monday.Last year, through the months of August and September, the organization gave supplies to 273 children. Additional supplies for 102 children were included in the gift bags they received for Christmas last year.
This year they expect an even larger turnout. With the increasing price of gas and other living expenses, the volunteers at JCOC expect many more families in the city to need a helping hand.
To help those students and their families, JCOC is asking for additional help from the community. They need monetary donations to fund the $25 vouchers given to each student as well as the cost of the supplies.
If you can donate basic school supplies, the JCOC would appreciate the following items:
