LOS ANGELES — It took a year, but Britney Spears got the comeback she was seeking from the MTV Video Music Awards — and she didn't even have to sing or dance. Spears nabbed three VMAs, including video of the year, erasing last year's career-low performance.
Even as the big networks have whittled their post-writers strike slate of new shows to just over 20 — down from the usual 34 to 38 — the big cable channels have stepped up with their own savory morsels, from The Shield's final season on FX to the debut of the HBO vampire drama True Blood, which you perhaps enjoyed Sunday night.
