Local cities and towns are lighting the fuse for Independence Day celebrations, marking 232 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Music, games for children, food and (of course) fireworks all are on the agenda.

Anniston is one of few cities without Independence Day celebrations this year. City officials have decided to move the annual fireworks show to New Year's Eve.

Here are some of the local Independence Day celebrations:

July 3

Jacksonville: Fireworks at Jacksonville State University's Pete Mathews Coliseum, at dusk

July 4

Gadsden: Fireworks on Broad Street, 9 p.m.

Heflin: McIntyre Park, activities begin at 4 p.m., fireworks start at 8:30 p.m.

Oxford: at Oxford Lake Park, activities begin at 8 a.m., fireworks start at 9 p.m.

Pell City: Fireworks over Logan Martin Lake, at dusk

Talladega: Activities at Veterans Park begin at 4 p.m., fireworks start at dusk.
