Blood drive
The Student Government Association at Jacksonville State University and the American Red Cross are sponsoring a blood drive from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Monday and 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the auditorium of the Theron Montgomery Building.
Kindergarten registration
Kindergarten registration at Kitty Stone Elementary School is from 8:15-11:30 a.m. April 22-25. Students with the last name beginning with A-F will register on April 22; G-L, April 23; M-R, April 24 and S-Z, April 25. April 29 is make up day. The child must be 5 on or before Sept. 1, must have an official birth certificate, Alabama immunization card, proof of residency (recent power bill, phone bill, etc., with address),social security card and custody papers (if applicable).
Anti drug prevention
The House of Refuge is sponsoring several anti drug prevention programs for children, alcoholics and drug addicts. A Narcotics Anonymous group called a New Perspective meets in the fellowship hall of St. Paul CME Church on East Vann Street at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There will be an open house from 7-9 p.m. March 27. The public is invited.
Anti drug activities
Anti drug prevention activities for boys and girls ages 6-17 will be held at the House of Refuse from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. March 24-27 in the fellowship hall of St. Paul CME Church on East Vann Street. Chase helps
Chase Martin, with the help of the women of Zeta Tau Alpha of Jacksonville State University, will host a car wash from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Pizza Hut. All proceeds will go to benefit persons with disabilities via Push America.
Pancake breakfast
There will be a pancake breakfast from 7-10 a.m. Saturday at Tredegar Chapel fellowship hall, 1676 Nisbet Lake Road. A $3 donation is requested.
Wildlife supper
New Hopewell Baptist Church will host a free wildlife supper from 5-6:30 p.m. March 22, with singing afterwards featuring the Swordsmen. The church is on Calhoun County 19 in the Roy Webb community. Rev. Rodney Ledbetter is pastor.
Yard sale
There will be a yard sale from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. March 22 in the parking lot of Pleasant Valley Holiness Church. Items for sale include what knots, Home Interior, pictures, books, dishes, some antique aluminum kitchen items, glassware, baskets, odds and ends. It will be moved inside in case of rain. From Alabama 204, turn onto Pleasant Valley Road beside West Point Grocery. The church is about three miles on the right.
Fellowship meeting
Pleasant Valley Holiness Church will have a fellowship meeting March 26-28. Morning services are at 10 a.m., with lunch served immediately afterwards. Evening services are at 7, with a canteen available afterwards. Everyone is invited.
Diabetes awareness
Parents of children with diabetes health professionals, teachers, school nurses, diabetes educators and the general public are invited to a diabetic awareness and family outreach community meeting at 2:30 p.m. April 6 in the recreation center on Ladiga Street Southeast. Curriculum Night
Jacksonville High School will host its first annual Curriculum Night at 6 Tuesday in the cafetorium. Diploma types, course descriptions and other general information will be explained at the meeting. Parents are encouraged to attend since students will choose his/her diploma type. The focus will be on the eighth grade students.
Trip to Chattanooga
The Oxford Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a senior citizen trip to Chattanooga March 22-24 for $270 per person, double occupancy. The trip includes two nights accommodations at the Hampton Inn, attractions, including Rock City, Ruby Falls, Aquarium, Imax, riverboat dinner cruise, incline railway, two dinners (one at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo), deluxe continental breakfasts, motorcoach transportation and shopping at Warehouse Row (outlets). Adult softball

Rummage sale
There will be a rummage sale from 7-11 a.m. on Saturday in the MAC Center of the First United Methodist Church, behind McDonald’s. Assorted items will fill the center.
PARD events

JSU banquet
Jacksonville State University’s senior athletic awards banquet is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. April 4 in Leone Cole Auditorium. The cost is $15. Sunday attire is requested. Because seating is limited, reservations are required. Call 782-5889.
Gospel songfest
The American Cancer Society and Springs Performance will present the annual Gospel Songfest, featuring the Primitive Quartet and New Ground Quartet at 7 p.m. April 25 at Tabernacle Auditorium, Congregational Holiness Campgrounds, Piedmont.
